The Pennsylvania Dutch Bunny

Catalog #R340 — Featuring a Traditional Tulip Motif

Bittersweet House Crouching Rabbit R340 Click image for enlarged view
Measuring 7 inches wide, this impressive crouching rabbit sits atop a base inspired by early Pennsylvania Dutch designs. The base features a hand-painted Tulip motif, a classic symbol of heritage and beauty in American folk art.

Cast from an antique chocolate mold, the rabbit itself boasts incredible lifelike texture. By combining German casting traditions with the folk art patterns of the Pennsylvania settlers, I have created a piece that captures the essence of a rare 19th-century primitive.

The Artistry

Every Bittersweet House piece is hand-cast in chalkware and meticulously hand-painted to ensure no two are exactly alike. The "distressed" antiquing process gives the rabbit a soft, aged patina that honors its historic roots. Each piece is signed, numbered, and dated on the bottom by Kathryn Campbell.
